Our first campaign

Riverina wheat for communities affected by the Sudan crisis

Australian farmers have committed 500 tonnes of premium wheat.

Grain of Hope is working to build and fund the pathway needed to move it toward people affected by displacement and severe hunger.

Why Sudan?

A crisis measured in disrupted lives

Conflict in Sudan has displaced millions of people, damaged livelihoods and food systems, and left large parts of the population facing severe hunger.

Behind every large number is a person.

  • A parent trying to find food.
  • A child living far from home.
  • A farmer separated from land.
  • A family whose ordinary life has been interrupted by conflict.

Grain of Hope’s first campaign is one practical gesture of solidarity from Australian farming communities to people affected by this crisis.

What has been pledged

500 tonnes

of premium wheat

Farmers in and around the New South Wales Riverina responded quickly when Rob and Ken asked for help. Together, they committed 500 tonnes of wheat.

That grain represents the generosity of multiple farms and families. It is now the foundation of Grain of Hope’s first international campaign.

The route

Riverina to a community meal

  1. 1
    Riverina farms
  2. 2
    Australian port
  3. 3
    International freight route
  4. 4
    Regional entry point
  5. 5
    Milling and local distribution

The precise route may need to change in response to security, freight availability, access conditions and partner requirements. In humanitarian operations, flexibility is not a sign of weak planning — it is part of responding responsibly to changing realities.
